Well, this is the second time that I've blogged about Pharrell since 2014, but this felt worth sharing. His latest record G I R L dropped last week, and it's a party. I did an interview about music for a friend's blog last year and one of the question's she asked was..

"What do you wish there was more of in the music scene today?"

My answer? Experimental and lyrically driven hip-hop/R&B. At the time, I'd been really diggin' what artists like Emeli Sandé, Macklemore, Lorde, Bruno, JT and others were bringing to the table. Since then, many more artists like Emily King, Caroline Smith, Mapei, Johnny Stimson and now Pharrell have been feeding my new-school groove appetite. This record feels hooky and poptastic enough to want to turn it up in the car with friends, yet classic and groovy enough that you'll want to spin it on your turntable while you sway around the kitchen and try not to burn dinner.

I'd like to think Marvin Gaye's smiling down on all this groove that's happening today. You can listen to the record on Spotify or click the photo above and snag it on iTunes.
